Thirty Thousand Killed
SOLDIERS JOIN FANATICS
LOOTING AND BURNING
LONDON, May 5.
Outrages are still reported from Southern Asia Minor. Further massacres have taken place at Adana. Four thousand soldiers, who should be restoring order, are looting, shooting, and burning. Instead of pouring water on the fires they feed them with kerosene.
Both French schools and the Josephine Convent in the city have been destroyed, and fears are expressed regarding the American school.
Fears are also expressed regarding the American missions at Hajin, in the extreme north-east of the Adana vilayet, and at Tarsus.
It is estimated that 6500 people have been killed in the city of Adana, and 30,000 in the entire province, and that 35,000 people are homeless and penniless.
