Button Day

"The Suffering Nations"

The last Button Day for 1917 will be December 7, "The Suffering Nations' Day," when an appeal will be made on behalf of Armenia, Syria, and Serbia, countries which have barely escaped annihilation, and whose people have been subjected to untold suffering. In order to put the appeal before the public, a meeting of the Commonwealth Button fund was held yesterday at the Town Hall. The Lord Mayor (Councillor Stapley) presided, and the Lady Mayoress (Mrs. Stapley) was also present. Addresses were given by the Rev. Dr. Rentoul, Mr. Ballakian, and Mr. Fawaz

The organising secretary (Mrs. Arthur S. Woolcott), National Mutual Buildings, Collins street, will be glad to receive the names of collectors for the various sections, and also of ladies willing to establish kiosks.
