The Armenian Massacres

CHARGE AGAINST A BRITISH CONSUL

APOLOGY BY THE PORTE

AN INQUIRY TO BE MADE

LONDON, Nov. 19.

In connection with the terrible massacres perpetrated by Turkish troops in Armenia, it was alleged by the Turkish commander that the British vice-consul at Van had incited the Armenians to revolt.

The Porte has now apologised to the British Government for this accusation, which is admitted to be quite untrue.

The Turkish Government also intimates that it will institute an inquiry into the atrocities.
