Unhappy Armenians

Urgent Appeal to America

The Assistant Secretary of State (Mr. Phillips) has informed a sub-committee of the Foreign Relations Committee of the United States Senate that the conditions in Armenia are "horrible" since the British troops withdrew. The Turks and Tartars threaten to exterminate the Armenians in a short period.

The sub-committee has received a cable message from the Armenian Mission in Paris, urging the immediate despatch of a regiment of troops to Armenia.

[It has been expected that America would accept the Peace Conference's mandate over Armenia after the withdrawal of the British troops. The delay in the ratification of the League of Nations has brought about the present unhappy state of affairs.]
