The Kurdish Outrages

APPALLING CARNAGE AT DIARBEKIR

FIVE THOUSAND ARMENIANS SLAUGHTERED

LONDON, Nov. 9.

Further particulars are to hand respecting the Kurdish raid on the town and pashalic of Diarbekir, on the Tigris. As already reported, the raid lasted for three days, during which time the Kurds indulged in their usual orgie of murder, pillage, and every conceivable outrage on the unfortunate inhabitants.

The slaughter of Armenians was appalling, it being computed that 5,000 men, women, and children perished in the massacre.

The Sultan, in cynical defiance of the powers, has conferred decorations on many of the Turkish officers serving in Armenia.
